SDS

STEP TEC's Spindle Diagnostic Software (SDS) provides a unique graphical interface for real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and analysis of all critical spindle parameters. Integrated data logging optimizes milling processes, supports spindle commissioning, and maximizes machine availability, with full connectivity via PROFIBUS or PROFINET.

Twin Air Sealing

The Twin Air Sealing (TAS) system generates controlled air flows that form an active barrier against external contaminants, preventing oil leakage from inside the spindle while blocking coolant, graphite dust, and fine particles from penetrating sensitive bearing areas. The result is absolute tightness and contamination-free machining.

Opticool System

The OptiCool system circulates temperature-controlled fluid across the spindle's motor and bearings, ensuring homogeneous heat distribution and eliminating local temperature peaks. With a maximum polar temperature deviation of only ΔT 1.4°C at the spindle jacket, it delivers consistent accuracy and thermal stability throughout long production cycles.

CoolCore extends OptiCool's thermal management with direct cooling of the rotating spindle shaft — reducing thermal displacement by up to 50% and cutting warm-up times to as little as 7.5 minutes. The result is maximum precision, repeatability, and process reliability from the very first part.

SDM and V3D sensor

The Spindle Diagnostic Module (SDM) acts as the black box of every STEP TEC spindle, continuously recording motor and bearing temperatures, vibration in all three axes, clamping cycles, operating hours, spindle speed, and collision events above 30 g throughout the entire spindle lifetime.

On-machine diagnosis

The Spindle Diagnostic Software (SDS) records motor temperature, clamping cycles, vibration, and dynamic behavior during live spindle operation, giving service technicians full visibility of the spindle's condition without interrupting production.
