Step-Tec Spindles for Mold & Die

The choice of the right spindle is decisive for efficiency and finishing quality in the machining process. That's why spindles from Step-Tec differ in their design and performance depending on the application in a machine tool.

 

Spindles for mold construction must always meet the requirement of high speeds up to 54,000 rpm. In addition, it must be expected that they run at 75 % of their maximum speed during the majority of their use.

This has a major effect on the design of the lubricating system (Direct Oil-Air Lubrication), the motor cooling, the bearing system, the thermal expansion and the vibration behavior, in particular when using long tools.

Milling applications in mold construction generally require excellent surface qualities, which do no longer require refinishing.
