The choice of the right spindle is decisive for success or failure in the machining process. That's why spindles from Step-Tec differ in their design in the following three main applications:

Mold construction
Spindles for mold construction must always meet the requirement of high speeds up to 60,000 rpm. In addition, it must be expected that they run at 75 % of their maximum speed during the greater part of their use. This has a major effect on the design of the lubrication system (Direct Lubrication System, DLS), the motor cooling, the bearing system, the thermal expansion (Axial Movement Sensor, AMS) and the vibration behavior, in particular when using long
tools (Vibro-Set).
Milling applications in mold construction generally require excellent surface qualities that eliminates the need of further refinishing.
